Xbox Reveals Translucent 25th Anniversary Series X and Controller

Microsoft has announced a limited-edition Xbox 25th anniversary hardware collection, including a translucent OG Green Xbox Series X25 console and matching Wireless Controller X25.

Xbox is marking its 25th anniversary with a new limited-edition hardware collection inspired by the original Xbox era. Announced by Jason Ronald, VP Next Generation, on Xbox Wire on June 7, 2026, the collection includes the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console and the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition.

The console brings a translucent OG Green design to Xbox Series X for the first time. Microsoft says the system keeps the standard Xbox Series X performance profile and includes 1 TB of storage, while adding anniversary details such as a green-lit “X,” an Xbox 25th Anniversary logo, and design references to classic Xbox hardware.

The matching controller also uses a translucent OG Green shell. Its design nods to the original Xbox with classic ABXY colors, green accents, and bumpers inspired by the black and white buttons from the original “Duke” controller. The back case and battery door are fully transparent, revealing a classic Xbox logo.

The console and controller will be sold together in select markets as a limited-edition collection in November 2026. The controller will also be available separately. Microsoft has not yet confirmed pricing, preorder dates, exact retailer lists, or all supported markets.

Why it matters

For players, this is a collector-focused celebration of Xbox’s original hardware identity. For indie developers and marketers, it is also a reminder of how strongly platform nostalgia can drive community engagement, especially when tied to anniversaries, limited drops, and recognizable visual design.
